Justine Giles is an artist based in Tamaki Makaurau, Aotearoa / Auckland, New Zealand.
Giles’s art practice is centered on drawing, although she also incorporates painting, sculpture, and found objects.
Giles is focused on the idea of drawing as both trace (evidence of past) and potential (future possibility). Her inspiration comes from things she finds, objects or photographs or snippets of information.
She is interested in the literary and linguistic, and is fascinated by the intrinsic story held within an object or scene.
Justine Giles graduated from Whitecliffe College of Art & Design with a Masters of Fine Arts (First Class Honours). She also holds a BFA from Whitecliffe and BA in Media Studies & English from Massey University.
